Release the Dog Play Infinite Room at First Thursday

Since Conundrum Music Hall closed in 2015 Midlands music enthusiast have searched for a new space to host shows, some more experimental than others. The new Infinitie Room at Tapp’s Arts Center in downtown Columbia has risen to the occasion to help fill that void. Housed in one of downtown’s most notable historic buildings, this isn’t the first time they’ve housed concerts. Over the years the room has played host to The Restoration and their album release, along with a multitude of punk shows in the basement. This time around, with new branding and a crew working to promote the space, Tapp’s and the Infinite Room look to continue bringing music to downtown Columbia.

Tomorrow at First Thursday Muses of Wonderland release their new album along with Daddy Lion, whose frontman helps organize the room. Opening the show is one of the indie rock treasures of Columbia in Release the Dog. Fronted by versatile guitarist Ross Swinson, Release the Dog play a brand of smart indie rock, with guitar lines that flow easily on top of bass and drums. His style is full of character and it shines through with his steadily advancing songwriting skills.

To show his versatility Swinson showed up for his Papa Jazz session with just a classical guitar, playing a new song that blew us all away. Watch it here and listen to Release the Dogs newest music here.
