When West Columbia music venue Conundrum closed down people wondered where the music would go. South Carolina’s capital city was low on music venues, especially the size needed for local and up and coming bands. But as it always does, live music finds a way. More shows moved to Bluetile Skateshop, or If Art, and even more to the newly formed Infinite Room. On Friday July 15 Alarm Drum will takeover the room debuting their new video for their song “Mercury.” Alarm Drum’s sound is ever evolving, leaning harder these days on an experimental electronic sound, though still rooted in building catchy danceable songs. This goes for the other two acts on the show as well, as The Lovely Few and Husband open. On a local level, Mike Mewborne and his band The Lovely Few were some of the first to mix programming and have a laptop on stage. Husband take an even more experimental approach live, mixing various live instruments and various iPad apps to build their songs. But as far out as any of these groups get, they don’t stray too far in modern song structure, with Husband and The Lovely Few still very lyrically driven.

Infinite Room will host the event on Friday July 15, 2016, taking place at TAPP’s Arts Center located at 1644 Main Street. Doors open for the event at 8:00pm and the concert starts at pm. The cost for admission is $6 at the door.

If you’d like to get a taste of the bands live, check out our Papa Jazz sessions we’ve filmed with each band.
