Sound and Vision Series Returns with Mistaken for Strangers

Facebook Event

The Sound and Vision series returns to the Nickelodeon Theatre January 27 featuring a music documentary accompanied by a live local band. Presented by Drip Coffee shop, the series is now going on one year and this time features Mistaken for Strangers, a unique look at the band The National that’s part rock documentary, part buddy comedy, and part an honest and emotional portrait of failure and success. The documentary is directed by Tom Beringer, brother of Matt Beringer who is the lead singer of The National. How did it all come together? Well, Tom was known as the loveable slacker of a brother, and when Matt was about to go on tour with The National he invited his brother along as a roadie. Little did he know that Tom planned to film the entire adventure. The documentary gives a glimpse inside the brothers relationship, and a glimpse inside the critically acclaimed band. The same band that made Barrack Obama’s year end playlist.

Local music for this screening will be provided by Numbtongue, the project of SC native Bobby Hatfield who will be a familiar face to some of you. With Numbtongue, Hatfield explores a variety of sounds and styles, centered around his strong and unique voice, taking on soul, pysch rock and more.
