Ross is a musician from Columbia who started his musical education with piano at the age of 7, before eventually taking up the guitar at age 14. After taking lessons at his local music store, Ross went on to study guitar at Belmont University in Nashville, TN where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Commercial Music in 2012. During his time at Belmont, Ross studied both classical and modern styles of guitar such as jazz, blues, and country. Throughout the years, Ross has learned to play guitar, bass, ukulele, piano, organ, trumpet and drums. He currently teaches guitar, bass and ukulele. His strength lies in his versatility and ability to help students find what truly inspires them about music. For the past decade, Ross has spent his time writing, recording, and playing music throughout the southeast. Currently, he plays lead guitar in Barnwell, who have found moderate success playing in and around South Carolina including notable local events such as The Jam Room Music Festival, Five Points After Five and Arts & Draughts. In addition to lead and rhythm guitar, Ross has also become an accomplished songwriter and has produced several albums of his own original material. The album “More Excuses” from his previous band, Release the Dog, claimed the #2 spot on SceneSC’s Top 10 Albums of 2016, and #6 on the Free Times’ list. Currently Ross is working on his solo recording project, Flower Shopping, for which he has written and produced a self-titled EP, with more in the works.
