Catie began the Suzuki method on violin at the age of five. Since then, she has participated in several orchestras, including the SC Youth Philharmonic, the UofSC Symphony, and the Bruch Chamber Orchestra. Catie has also performed in the Saarburg International Music Festival in Germany and the International Concerto Festival in the Czech Republic before earning her BM in Violin Performance from the University of South Carolina. Catie has also performed numerous jazz and pop shows on violin with the UofSC Jazz Strings and her local band, Bellavida. Catie has also been singing all of her life, experimenting with several genres, including folk, jazz, neo-soul, R&B, rock, and pop. She began gigging at 11 years old and has sung at a wide range of venues alongside Columbia’s finest musicians, including Don Russo, Tony Lee, Reggie Sullivan, and Mark Rapp. Catie has studied voice with Jessica Skinner (of Freeway Music and Prettier Than Matt), Mari Hazel (Freeway Music), Aletha Jacobs (UofSC), and Sarah Kervin (Berklee). At 13 years old, she began studying guitar with Don Russo (Freeway Music) and has performed in various showcases and venues over the years. Catie is also a songwriter and bandleader, writing and performing as much as possible. Catie is currently involved in several musical projects, including STANKFACE, Boomtown Trio, Station Seven Band, and is constantly collaborating with many different musicians. Catie uses her diverse musical training and background to encourage students to achieve their aspirations. She is an advocate for trying new things and is committed to helping her students become passionate about music.
